Injections are not as unpleasant as you might think. You can use a 31 gauge 3/8″ insulin needle which you can hardly feel. The perception is far worse than the reality. As far as priapism is concerned, I have read that it occurs in only about 5 to 10 percent of patients. To avoid the slight risk of priapism, it is recommended you inject no more than three times a week and to alternate sides each time.
In my opinion, if pills have failed you, injections are a very viable next step. However, it takes a bit of fine tuning to get the ideal dose dialed in properly. Once you have determined the appropriate dose, you are able to enjoy a hard erection for up to two hours or more whether or not you have achieved an orgasm. It is certainly less invasive than an implant.
